  1. Jacob, I really enjoyed this post man.. Like you mentioned, the key is finding our own lane and then fully dedicating ourselves to it. Everybody is definitely capable of being a "beast" and you laid that out for us in the video as you described the parallels between your roommate and yourself.

This post was very encouraging. From watching, I was reminded to do what works for ME and to not get caught up with what everybody else is doing. If I stick to what I'm good at and fully immerse myself, everything will work out fine. Thanks for the great post and stay 100% bro!

The video stabilization is pretty nice on the 4S! Totally agree about finding that zone where you can put so much effort into something. Your doing a great thing with this website – keep it up!

Awesomeness bud! You're right! Devoting yourself to that one thing pays off. Maybe not right away, but it does come around, ya know! I was really feeling this video Jacob! Man, you really have me missing the city. Who knows maybe I'll be back there one of these days. I hope it's sooner than later. I get seriously home sick looking at the your background here. Oh well, keep em coming Jay!! Peace, bro!

Hahah man your positive attitude is contagious.

Here's a semi-related question – How'd you get over the weirdness of talking into a camera as if you're talking to someone? Obviously these videos need to be recorded in this way, but shooting a video as I walk/run on a public street is something I often think of doing, but ultimately start thinking about what I'd say, then convince myself that the message is unclear (or some other show-stopping BS)

Thoughts? I know I need to 'cut the BS and just go for it' but I struggle with pulling the trigger.

    • Hey Timmy, I can help you out with this one. I've recorded a few videos of me talking and doing cool shit around Perth (here's the latest one: http://www.thefeelgoodlifestyle.com/the-feel-good… and what I realized is that it's talking to a camera while walking is only weird for the first few seconds.. then you honestly just stop giving a crap lol.

    • Jacob_Sokol says:

      LOL Dude! Thanx, haha.

Phil brought up some great points. A lot of it also has to do with being willing to suck. If you look at my first few videos, they were *really* bad. And those were the ones that made it online. There were countless other ones that NOOOOOBODY has even seen. (Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DomyKQQ_Yig)

Another thing that helps is to be cool screwing up on camera. If you make a mistake, just make a little fun of yourself and keep going. DON'T STOP! If something "shitty" happens – like the UPS man rings the doorbell right in the middle of your set – just be honest and keep shooting – tell people to hold on a second – they'll love the honesty and find it intriguing!

As for walking and talking in public, yeah, you really need a lil swag to pull it off. That swag is gonna come at different points in your day so just feel into how excited you feel when you're ready to shoot the video.

Let me know if there's any other way i can help. And now just cut the BS and go for it!!!! -=)

Funny how we can never look at our own life, our own work, objectively isn't? I know when I look at my website for instance, I see the things that are missing, the things that could be better, etc.. while others see what's there, what's great about it. So yeah maybe once in a while we need someone else to remind us that we're crushing it.

Loved the format btw, super simple but it's real and it's fun to listen to you tell the story & build in a life lesson.

Looking forward to more Walk & Talk vids!

    PEACE!

Great thought, Jacob. So many of us want to find that "mode" however we don't want to do the work required to claim our genius mode. As you mentioned of your roommate (and of your own work), it takes hours of dedication for days, months, years and decades to get to the point of that level of observable external success. The challenge to each of us is will we do the internal work to make it happen?
