Sensophy’s Inner Circle – Week 40

Big Idea #1: Taking Action Towards Goals

Sometimes when we find ourselves getting inspired about a project, we may hear a voice resisting in the back of our head saying, “Oh… you’re probably not going to get that done.” (or some similar message.) This voice is something we all face. Trying to rid yourself of it is like trying to live life without ever experiencing rain. Just like rain, this voice will come no matter what we do about it, so it’s not productive to aim to remove it completely. Instead, we must learn to produce, create and work towards our goals even with that voice of resistance present.

And sometimes when we’re working, it can be hard to see that we really are taking action and making progress on our goal. We can feel discouraged and overwhelmed, and seek some way to take “better action”. For example, “taking action” might feel like it needs to be more active than sitting in front of a computer all day, even if that’s what you need to be doing.

In this case, ask yourself:

“Are the things I’m doing taking me in the direction of accomplishing my goal?”

If the answer is “yes,” then you really are taking action.

We might also start out feeling really excited and jazzed about a project, but fear that we won’t feel excited anymore. But remember: feelings follow action. So if you continue taking action towards your goals, the excitement and enthusiasm will likely be right there with it.

Big Idea #2: Bringing 5% More Consciousness

Think about an area of your life that you would like to improve. Spending a few minutes on this simple exercise can help you push through to the next level:

Finish this sentence:

“If I brought 5% more consciousness to __________, then………”

(finish the sentence any way you like.)

For example, “If I brought 5% more consciousness to Sensophy’s Inner Circle, then what would happen?” List as many things as you can that would come as a result of 5% more consciousness. Even when you think you’ve exhausted everything, push yourself to list a few more. Soon, you will have a full page in front of you of all the incredible things that will happen, with just an investment of 5% more consciousness. No more excuses not to put that in now, eh?!

Big Idea #3: Letting go and Evolving

Do you ever feel judged for expressing your true vision for who you want to be, with other people? It can be scary to open up and express to others the identity that we envision for ourselves, especially if it is very different than the one we have now.

What’s happening for each of us is that we’re letting go of who we are, what we’ve done, how we behave, how we see the world…. we let go of our identity and allow ourselves to evolve. This process means that part of us is dying so that we can experience rebirth as something new. It’s important not to attach to our identity as it is now, and allow ourselves to evolve into what we’re meant to be. Surrounding ourselves with a community of people who are in the place we want to be is a major step towards evolution.

If we feel nervous about this process, or about anything in life, we don’t need to freak out and back away. Nervousness and excitement are the same thing, in different forms. Feeling nervous about something means that it’s important to us, so we can begin to see nervousness as a good thing. Think about some events in life that might make you nervous: going in for a job interview, reaching out to someone who inspires you, asking someone on a date. We feel nervous about these things because they are important to us! So recognizing that this emotion is actually productive, and indicative of something we should be doing.
