Sensophy’s Inner Circle – Week 58

Big Idea #1: The Hero’s Journey as a Process

Feelings of fear, uncertainty, and leaving safety behind for the unknown. Sound familiar? This is the hero’s journey, a shedding of our old identity and stepping away from the secure and the known. It is the journey we all must take to greatness, to become the full version of ourselves.

But the hero’s journey isn’t a one-time thing. We must learn to love the process of the hero’s journey, and embrace that it is a process for our entire lives! When we try to pump the brakes and resist the hero’s journey, we’re going to experience things like sickness, depression or other problems. The more we resist, the harsher our circumstances may get in our current reality.

But if we’re aware of the hero’s journey, and accept it as a miraculous process in our lives, we can embrace it and allow it to change us. We know that it’s okay to feel nervous or to have doubts. But instead of running away from those feelings, we run towards the fear and uncertainty and watch it shift our reality for the better.

When people are so determined to resist the hero’s journey, they often end up numbing the pain they will inevitably feel in other ways. They may anesthetize themselves with drugs and alcohol, or by consuming junk food, spacing out in front of the TV, etc. These might feel good for the moment, but they will never bring peace!

Embracing the process of the hero’s journey is the only way to find peace with the uncertainty. Here we find that the treasure is within ourselves, that we had everything we needed all along.

Big Idea #2: Transitioning into a New Identity

Whether you’re trying to become a successful coach, or transitioning into any new identity or role in your life, remember one principle: profound service.

There’s never any reason to “sell” anything, or “sell yourself” to anyone. When you’re speaking with potential clients, all you have to do is serve so profoundly that this person wants to continue to work with you. Provide them such a profound experience that they can’t not continue working with you!

It’s not about convincing someone to work with you – you have to just focus all your attention on how profoundly you can help them. Then, their decision will be easy.

Coaching, along with so many other careers, is an art. There are principles we can use to make art beautiful, but there’s not a formula. In other words, there is no “one way” to be successful at a career in coaching or elsewhere. But when you show up with the intention to serve powerfully and go to a place with your clients that no one else is willing to go- this is when the magic happens.

Don’t expect yourself to create a thriving business right away! It takes time, trial and error, consistency, and even awkwardness and failure in order to reach success. If you’re not discouraged, and continue to serve relentlessly, you’re only going to see things open up for you with your business (and your life!)

Big Idea #3: Pulling the Trigger on Your Big Dream

Is there something that you know you wanna do, but you just haven’t pulled the trigger?

Something that you know you want to commit to, but might have been avoiding or telling yourself that it isn’t possible or doesn’t make sense? Do you constantly tell yourself that you’ll do this thing one day, later, just not now?

Really sit down and ask yourself what it is you wanna create.

In other words…what is the thing you want so badly that you’d do whatever it took to get or create that thing?

What is on the other side of the fence from where you are now? You might be tempted to name some of those things that can get you over the fence…like clean eating, yoga and meditation… but what is really over that fence? What is the actual thing that you desire?

How do you stop yourself from actually doing or achieving that thing?

If you were to make this thing your absolute purpose in life, how would you go about doing that?

Make it your absolute purpose in life. Do it now – don’t wait until tomorrow, don’t wait for the next 10 minutes. Leave your computer, right now, and go do that thing.
