Sensophy’s Inner Circle – Week 70

Big Idea #1: Diving Into Where You Are

We all want to find that thing that gets us jumping out of bed in the morning with excitement.

Maybe you’re working on a project or at your career and you enjoy it, but you just don’t get that feeling that it’s THE thing that sparks your passion. This sense of incongruence can be really frustrating, when you can’t pinpoint exactly what you need to do in order to feel more enthusiastic and fulfilled.

But consider that it’s not always about reaching the next level of excitement, the next goal or next best thing, that will bring you to where you want to be. It may actually come from stepping into your current project or situation with 100% commitment and passion. Running towards the next exciting thing may leave you always feeling like you’re missing something in your life.

You might want to deepen and get further into alignment with what’s already going on in your life, rather than distracting yourself with the quest for something that seems more exciting. This might really just be a distraction from stepping into what you’re doing now.

Big Idea #2: The Question Mark is More Powerful Than the Exclamation Mark

When we’re going through something in our life, it can be tempting to want someone to just tell us what we should do! And oftentimes, people look to affirmations to help them through various issues.

It’s no question that affirmations and mantras can be used as helpful tools, but when used as the primary tool they actually just add to the traffic jam of thoughts that are already running down the highway of your mind. Affirmations are the “exclamation mark” type of statements that feel good, but won’t necessarily create lasting change.

When we can slow down (to an unreasonable degree!) and inquire, this is where we start to gain insight that would be nearly impossible if it were just told to us. Asking ourselves powerful questions can help to uncover the real issue that’s going on, and gives us the clarity to finally be able to see what’s going on.

The quality of our life is directly related to the quality of the questions we ask ourselves. So when we start asking ourselves really powerful questions, we greatly increase our power in life. So try on the lens of powerful inquiry when you’re looking at your life!

Big Idea #3: Moving from Comfort to Fulfillment

Many people find themselves in jobs or situations that might keep them comfortable, but just aren’t fulfilling them on a deep level. Often times its so confusing because other people might think we’re so lucky to have this job, so we feel guilty that we’re not happy.

There’s a way to be grateful for what we have, and still strive for more. We don’t want to shame ourselves for striving to grow out of a situation that just doesn’t fit us. If we stop striving for what really fulfills us, then we’re neglecting our own needs.

So if you find yourself in this type of situation, start by asking yourself:

How do you keep yourself in this situation?

There may be lots of “shoulds” that run your life. “I should be perceived this way” or “I should have this job” or “I should be on this particular path”… the list goes on. What would happen if you dropped everything you tell yourself that includes “should”?!

What would you open your life up to if you dropped everything that the rest of the world says you “should” do?
