Sensophy’s Inner Circle – Week 89

Big Idea #1: Quality vs. Quantity

Imagine there’s a difference between quantity and quality. Oftentimes in life we’re looking for more, because we think that “more” will be the answer! (more money, more information…etc.) We often look at life through the lens of “more” being better.

So in your business, you may naturally be inclined to give your clients “more”, as this will make their experience better. But try to reframe that mindset, and focus instead on giving your clients a deeper, richer experience of your service instead.

So instead of trying to just offer a ton of information, one super powerful distinction can actually be way more powerful. One distinction, “quality vs. quality”, can make a way bigger difference to someone than a whole ton of information can. Think about going deeper, understanding on a greater level – rather than just giving or consuming more information. It’s not about knowing more, it’s about doing more.

Big Idea #2: What Got You Here is Keeping You Here

Instead of viewing outside information as having all the power, we can view outside information as a gateway to or a reflection of the information that’s already within us. You feel some truth already in you, that you recognize in some information you find outside. It’s so tempting to think that when we find the right formula or answers outside somewhere, THEN we’ll finally be ready to be everything we wanted in life!! But this isn’t how it works at all! Yes, we need to learn the basic formulas in the beginning when we’re trying something new, but we also need to remember to forget those formulas and just trust ourselves once we get going! It’s just like the training wheels on a bike. What got you to this level, is also keeping you at this level.

Yes, this got you where you are. It’s so easy to stay at a certain place because it’s worked in the past. But recognize that what got you somewhere is also what’s keeping you there. At a certain point, you need to let go of all the information and formulas that you’ve picked up, and trust yourself to fly.

Where are you doing things you think you need to do that feel heavy, that are just depleting you of energy? And unconsciously, what does this thing symbolize for you? What would it mean to let this go? Who’s able to live life without doing this thing – and how do they do that?

Big Idea #3: Let Your Life Be an Exploration

Alot of times, we make things “mean” something – experiences defining or revealing who we are in some way. So instead of doing that, what if we just let our life be an experiment? Rather than letting successes or “failures” mean something about who we are as a person, what if we just let our life become an exploration?

When we approach life with this new sense of freedom, we don’t need to prove ourselves to anyone or to ourselves. We can allow ourselves to take detours that look exciting, and not worry about the results meaning something about who we are as a person.

What would you tell someone who wants to learn how to dribble a basketball with their non-dominant hand? You’d tell them to practice! If you want to build a new skill, you actually need to build a new neural pathway for that skill in your brain. You won’t be perfect the moment you start, and that’s perfectly fine! If we tried to be perfect at everything we started, we’d never gain any new skills.

If you want to grow, you need to be open to struggle. Because it’s the experiences we have during struggle that actually give us the strength to become great teachers and courageous leaders in this area.
