Big Idea #1: Unconscious Rules

We reinforce and reaffirm unconscious rules all the time. And these unconscious rules run our lives. These rules are voices in your head. Where did that voice come from? This voice in your head, is it actually your voice? Or did you just learn to emulate the voices that you heard somewhere else, take on those voices, and start to believe they were yourself?

Who’s rules are you living by? Who is that voice is in your head? Is it the voice of your parents, blogs, MTV, a spiritual guru? What rule is keeping you feeling what you’re feeling right now? There is a rule that’s stopping you from living the life that you want. Whatever you don’t have in life is because you have a rule that’s keeping your from getting it. So what’s that rule? Once you uncover that subconscious rule, you can learn how to break those rules in a way that works for you.

Big Idea #2: Motivation

The word motivation comes from the word motive. So what is the motive here? What is the motive in what you’ve started to do or want to do? If we can narrow the motive, then the path to motivation becomes much clearer.

Big Idea #3: Suffering

Suffering is a focus on yourself and taking the focus inward. One of the quickest ways to stop suffering is to focus on helping other people. This is the secret to a fulfilled life. It doesn’t mean ignore yourself or be in denial of what you’re experiencing. But there is a subtle shift when we start to focus on genuinely taking care of ourselves and using our time and our energy in a way that’s helpful to other people.
