Now, for this week’s big ideas…

Big Idea #1: Integrating the Parts of Ourselves

Have you ever been in a situation you don’t wanna be in, trying to figure out how to make the best of it? Oftentimes, we tell ourselves that we’re gonna do this thing we don’t wanna do, in order to get something we DO want. Work at the job that drains us, so we can eventually have freedom… you get the idea.

The truth is though, you can’t hate your way into love. You won’t create an experience that you LOVE in life, by suffering through experiences that are out of alignment for you.

Sometimes we can tend to have a “black and white” mindset about our purpose and life. Either we’re TOTALLY on purpose, in alignment and feeling freedom and bliss… or we’re completely off track. We struggle to balance our desires for lightness and freedom, with the need for structure and other masculine aspects.

But these masculine and feminine aspects of our lives aren’t mutually exclusive. We have many parts within us which need to be expressed. So really what we need is an integration, using one in service of the other.

Follow your heart, but bring your head. Both are in balance, serving the other, leading us to live an intuitively guided life that also honors structure and intellect.

Big Idea #2: Finding Your Purpose

“Finding your purpose” can feel like this really esoteric topic – so let’s break it down.

What are the things that matter most to you in life? What are your core values? When you know the things that matter most to you, you’ll realize that there’s no ONE correct path to take in life – but rather, you’ll understand the direction to go in that’s going to keep you in alignment with your core values.

So instead of asking “who am I?”, try asking “What matters most to me in life?”

Here are a few questions to ask yourself that will help clarify your core values:

What were the top 5 most meaningful experiences I’ve had, and why were they so meaningful?

What were the times I felt most alive, and why?

Look at the common thread between those experiences. Those common threads are your values.

Big Idea #3: Staying Motivated

How do we stay on top of everything in life? How can we stay motivated, get everything done and maintain a sense of real purpose?

First, be connected to something larger than yourself. Being connected to a mission, vision or project you have will keep your energy focused and motivation high. Know what’s important to you – and take on projects based on what matters to you. Being really connected to your WHY will help you stay on track.

At the beginning of the week, write out your top 3 objectives for the week. What 3 things would you need to get done, to make it an absolutely extraordinary week?

Also, really be conscious of who you’re spending time and energy with. Who are the people that energize and inspire you, and how can you surround yourself with these types of people?

And constantly be asking yourself: How can you take specific, grounded action?
