So you wanna quit your job and travel the world?
Whose permission are you waiting for?
So you wanna be more sexually expressive?
Whose permission are you waiting for?
So you wanna only say YES to things that excite you?
Whose permission are you waiting for?
Mommy’s? Daddy’s? Society’s?
Whose?
Often, it’s not our lack of desire that stops us.
It’s not our lack of knowledge or skill.
It’s not that our desire is out of reach.
It’s just that we’re waiting for permission.
Permission to be big…
Permission to speak our truth…
Permission to make decisions that light our damn souls on fire…
So answer this:
When no one’s looking and you’re not judging yourself…
What is it that you REALLY REALLY REALLY want?
And whose permission are you waiting for before you allow yourself to get it?
Some of the most powerful shifts in my life have come from the simple act of getting permission from a mentor.
Permission to make lots of money… and not be considered greedy.
Permission to “own” my sexual desires… without being considered creepy.
Permission to love the hell outta people… without being considered soft.
Sometimes I get permission from watching my mentors do what I desire.
And other times they may just say one sentence to me like: “Why don’t you just do THAT”.
My head goes: “Wait. What? I’m allowed to do that? Nooooooo. Seriously?!!!”
My heart goes: “Oooooooooooooooooh HELL YEEEEEEEEEEEAH!!!”
I give you permission.
Permission to have a life you LOVE – without having to justify it to anyone.
Permission to have sex on the first date – without feeling like a slut.
Permission to leave a job that doesn’t light you on fire – without feeling irresponsible.
Permission to make money from your passion – without feeling like a fraud.
Permission to stop talking to people who drain your energy – without feeling like a bad friend.
Permission to slow down and listen to your body – without feeling lazy and like a loser.
Permission to look however you wanna look – without feeling ugly or weird.
Permission to be the author of your own life and write your story any fucking way you’d like.
What is it that you REALLY want? And whose permission have you been waiting for to get it?

This one really spoke to me with where I’m at in life. Lost my job and broke up with my girlfriend in less than a week, and have been feeling the effects and emotional fallout of these 2 major events. On top of that, my little brother emailed me with how frustrated he is with my lack of approval and involvement in his life. I’m sorry that I haven’t been the person these people want me to be, but it’s hard when I’m made to change in ways I perceive to be too difficult at the present time. I wanted to share that apology with you because it’s all coming down to my entire existential and internal lifelong dilemma. The reactive existence versus the proactive existence. The continual failures of proactive attempts, tainted by the fear of failure and commitment, can really wear on a person, and I’m so thankful to see these emails from you man on occasion, and I’m glad to have not unsubscribed. Thank you for speaking your truth each day, and for reassuring and inspiring those of us in search of truth. YOU are the truth, and you are a example of a faith-based existence, which I believe separates those who drift in life, and those who prosper.
Best regards,
Hunter
Jacob,
This is genius! As a coach, this is the magic and what I often give my clients as well…permission. It is helping them walk through the fear and the negative voices that stop people from living the life they so desire. Thanks for this fabulous post, and the work you are doing in the world!

Really great post. Now i learn new things in the social media opportunity to growing business. Thanks for this article.
This is a fantastic post, Jacob! I think that this mindset is something we’re all guilty of having at one point in our lives or another, and I can personally attest to needing permission to go after something I wanted more than a few times.
What’s especially difficult to let go of is the limiting belief that your dream will directly affect someone you love in a negative way, and they may or may not hold it against you. The truth is, following our dreams and being authentic can be such a great test of friendship and love; those that choose to adapt to or accept how your dream affects them, or better yet, those who decide to join you on your journey… those are your tribe.
That was great questions that you have trigered
Thank you for the post. Everything in life is too attractive, and we don’t need to wait any permission when we grow up. I don’t know, but even when we just live our life in the way we find it suitable, there are many things make me cannot, especially when we get married and have children. So when we are young, just do what we love, or don’t get married :)) we will have more time. Thank you for this inspiring post, let’s start by have a full day of sleep.
